About the Internship

Red Hat is hiring Software Engineering Interns to join its engineering teams in India. Interns become part of the engineering team and work on real software projects under the guidance of experienced mentors.

The internship provides practical exposure to software development, debugging, feature development and open-source technologies. Interns may work with technologies such as Python, Golang, Linux, RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible and other modern development tools.

The role also involves collaboration with global engineering and cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with an experienced mentor to design, develop and maintain software code.
• Develop and maintain code using Python, Golang or similar programming languages.
• Add new features and improvements to Red Hat products.
• Debug software issues and investigate problems reported during development.
• Track and resolve software issues in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Work with technologies and products including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Design, Product Management and Documentation teams.
• Participate in day-to-day engineering activities and development processes.
• Learn and apply modern software engineering practices and open-source technologies.

Eligibility Criteria

• Currently pursuing the final year of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent discipline.
• Basic knowledge of software engineering concepts.
• Basic knowledge of or willingness to work with Python, Golang or a similar programming language.
• Good written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong curiosity and interest in understanding how software works.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and work collaboratively.
• Ability to work in India without current or future visa sponsorship.
