Apple’s Information Systems and Technology organization is looking for a Junior Software Development Engineer in Test to contribute to the design, analysis and certification of applications.
The role focuses on software quality engineering, test automation, functional and end-to-end testing, root-cause analysis and improving customer experience.
The engineer will work closely with software engineers, product managers, product designers and other quality engineering teams.
- Design and execute test cases, test plans and test strategies based on product requirements and user journeys.
- Perform exploratory, functional, end-to-end, regression and integration testing.
- Test web, API and native iOS/iPadOS applications.
- Develop and maintain automated testing solutions.
- Investigate test failures and product defects.
- Perform root-cause analysis and work with developers to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers and other QE engineers throughout the software lifecycle.
- Identify repetitive testing activities that can be improved through AI-assisted automation.
- Explore GenAI tools to improve quality engineering productivity.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1–2 years of experience in software quality engineering.
- Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
- Experience with modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium or Appium.
- Experience testing web, API and iOS/iPadOS native applications.
- Good understanding of software testing principles, test design techniques and automation practices.
- Experience using GenAI tools for quality engineering tasks.
- Experience investigating test failures and product defects.
- Strong root-cause analysis and debugging skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted automation to improve software testing productivity.
- Familiarity with GenAI tools such as ClaudeCode or GeminiCLI.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
