About the Role
Alaan is looking for a Full Stack Engineering Intern to join its Engineering team. The position has a strong focus on backend development, while also providing exposure to frontend engineering.
Interns will work with engineers to build and improve production features using Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript, with frontend development involving React.js and Next.js.
What You'll Do
- Build and improve backend services using Node.js, Express.js and NestJS.
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs across different parts of the platform.
- Work with relational databases, SQL queries, schemas and data models.
- Contribute to frontend features using React.js and Next.js when required.
- Investigate bugs, troubleshoot issues and improve application reliability.
- Write clean and maintainable code while following engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers and Product Managers.
- Work on features from requirements through production.
- Take ownership of smaller features and gradually work on more complex engineering problems.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Good understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and programming fundamentals.
- Hands-on exposure to Node.js through internships, projects, coursework or personal development.
- Familiarity with Node.js frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs and backend application development.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Some exposure to React.js and/or Next.js.
- Familiarity with Git and version control.
- Strong problem-solving fundamentals and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, receive feedback and take ownership.
