LSEG is looking for Python-focused Software Engineers for its Future Talent pipeline in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
LSEG is building a community of engineers for its FTSE Russell business to develop services, libraries and applications that power financial indices trusted by financial institutions worldwide.
Python is the preferred programming language, while engineers with strong production experience in Java, C#, C, C++, Scala, Go or Rust may also be considered if they are motivated to become fluent in Python.
This is a hands-on software engineering opportunity involving design, development, testing, deployment and production support in an AWS environment.
- Write production-quality software primarily using Python across services, APIs, libraries and command-line tools.
- Design and build software components from problem definition through deployment and production support.
- Create data models and integrations using Aurora PostgreSQL and object storage.
- Build data-processing solutions at scale using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Glue and EMR Serverless.
- Apply version control, CI/CD, code review and automated testing practices.
- Build observability using structured logging, metrics, tracing and meaningful alerting.
- Contribute to architecture discussions and shared engineering standards.
- Work with product and business teams to turn requirements into reliable software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing and collaborative Agile engineering activities.
- Track record of building and shipping production applications, services or libraries.
- Strong production Python experience, or equivalent depth in Java, C#, C, C++, Scala, Go or Rust with motivation to become fluent in Python.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable and extensible code.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including modular design, dependency management, packaging and error handling.
- Practical experience with Git workflows, code reviews and CI/CD.
- Strong relational database experience, ideally Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
- Understanding of batch processing, ETL and schema evolution.
- Experience working collaboratively in Agile teams.
