Intel is looking for technically strong graduates and early-career engineers to work on AI system performance modelling, GPU architecture and simulation in Bengaluru, India.
The position is associated with Intel's Bengaluru location. The listing identifies the role as eligible for a hybrid work model, subject to Intel's applicable workplace arrangements.
Intel is seeking an AI System Performance Engineer to help understand and estimate the performance of AI training and inference systems. The role combines Python programming, analytical modelling, computer architecture and AI workload analysis.
The engineer will build models to estimate end-to-end system performance, examine communication patterns and parallelism strategies, and identify architectural bottlenecks that affect AI workloads.
This opportunity is particularly relevant to candidates interested in GPU architecture, high-performance computing, large language models and the interaction between AI software and computing hardware.
- Enable new AI workloads in analytical simulators and model multi-GPU deployment strategies.
- Develop analytical models for GPU architectures, including processing cores and memory hierarchies.
- Estimate the performance of AI training and inference configurations.
- Investigate architectural bottlenecks and recommend performance improvements.
- Integrate or modify open-source simulators and analytical models for Intel-specific architectures.
- Evaluate different core counts, cache capacities, memory bandwidth and GPU interconnect configurations.
- Study parallelization and communication strategies used by distributed AI workloads.
- Use performance analysis to recommend suitable hardware configurations and architectural trade-offs.
- B.Tech or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- College graduates or candidates with at least one year of experience in AI workload modelling, GPU architecture modelling, simulation or a similar field.
- Strong Python programming skills and the ability to develop modular, maintainable analytical models.
- In-depth understanding of computer architecture, including CPU/GPU components, processing cores, caches and memory hierarchies.
- Strong understanding of LLM workloads, Transformer architecture, attention mechanisms and relevant kernel internals.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar workloads, tools and architectures independently.
- Knowledge of distributed AI training and inference.
- Understanding of data, tensor, pipeline and expert parallelism.
- Familiarity with LLM inference concepts such as prefill, decode, KV cache, batching and quantization.
- Exposure to inference frameworks such as vLLM, TensorRT-LLM or SGLang.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, CI/CD and automated workflows.
- Understanding of power fundamentals and power-performance co-optimization.
- Recent graduates in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Master's graduates with relevant AI systems or computer architecture knowledge.
- Early-career engineers with experience in GPU modelling, performance simulation or AI workloads.
- Candidates with strong Python skills and a demonstrable understanding of computer architecture.
- Applicants interested in AI infrastructure, high-performance computing and GPU performance engineering.
Important: This is a specialized technical role. A degree alone may not be sufficient; candidates should review the detailed architecture, Python and AI workload requirements before applying.
